Pop up ads are advertisements for online services and 'pop-up' when a
website is opened. Though they are meant for advertising purposes only,
some may gather email addresses from the computer system. A user can
choose to block pop-up ads if they do not wish to see the advertisements or to protect the system from malwares contained within the pop-ups. Messenger Service advertisements can be avoided by installing a firewall application or making use of your Windows XP Firewall. You can either download Zone Alarm, which is a firewall application, or enable the firewall in Windows XP (SP2) by:- 1. Clicking on the Start menu and then "Run"
- 2. Enter the command Firewall.cpl
- 3. Activate this option by choosing On and clicking OK
This will block the ports required for Messenger Service data transmission.
